Analyzes on Source Materials of Chinese and Other Asian History : Towards the Compilation of Asian Historical Sources for University Students

In this project, which finally aims at compiling historical source materials into a new textbook for university students in order to enrich the education on Asian history in the continuous curriculum for four years and to prigress systematic understanding of history of China and other areas, wa have conducted some analyzes of the source materials of Asian history allotted to each member as follows :1. Superintendency of the research and editing a whole textbook by MORI,Masao2. Systematization and enrichment of historical images by using historical documents, literature and archaeological sources of China by EMURA,Haruki and MORI,Masao3. Cultural exchange and migration between China and other areas by SHIGEMATSU,Shinji, MITA,Masahiko and KATO,Kumiko4. China in the world system after the 16th century by KURODA,Akinobu5. China and Japanese military government in Asia by INOMATA (KURASAWA), AikoThe temporary results obtained now through those works allotted to each member are shown in the report. In the report, EMURA,MORI,KATO,SHIGEMATSU and MITA introduce some historical documents, literature and other historical records with their japanese translation and their explanatory notes. KURODA and KURASAWA introduce hiztorically very valuable materials like maps and photographs.This project has some points of work still remained unomplete, specially in the fields of the above numbers 3,4 and 5. Roughly speaking, however, we could proceed our works well, and could publish the tentative textbook on Asian history for university students. We propose to continue the above investigation and revise our publication in order to compile much better and more complete textbook.
