We created a database of phylogenetic trees, and named it "Jungle". Academic journals in which molecular phylogenetic trees frequently appear were, searched, and images of figures that present phylogenetic trees are Database Jungle were obatained from a scanner, then those were annotated. Journals searched were Molecular Biology and Evolution, Journal of Molecular Evolution, Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, Nature, Science, Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences, Genetics, Genes and Genetic Systems (formerly Japanese Journal of Genetics), Zoological Science, Evolution, Systematic Botany, and American Journal of Botany. This database is available via WWW (World Wide Wed) and its URL is http : //smiler.lab.nig.ac.jp/jungle/jungle.html. We also plan to distribute its CDROM to interested researchers.
