これまで、「健康感」「ボディ・イメージ」「食行動」などについては、各種質問紙法やSD法などを用いて研究されてはいるが、「健康感」「からだの状態」「感情状態」を評価・評定する場合に実感とのずれを感じていた。本研究では、従来の質問紙による「健康感」「ボディ・イメージ」「食行動」「人格及びその背景」などの諸次元の測定と同時に、これらのからだ言葉や擬態語・擬声語によるからだの状態や感情状態の測定を実施し、相互の関係を検討した。まず、購入のNikon F90XDと現有のビデオ・カメラにより「ボディ・イメージ」「食行動」、および各種感情状態に関する静止画像および映像によるデータの収集を行った。次に、「身にしみる」「胸さわぎ」などのからだ言葉や「くしゃくしゃ」「ぐちゃぐちゃ」「もやもや」「しくしく」などという擬態語・擬声語によって、からだの状態と感情状態を表現している言葉がある。質問紙法やSD法とこれらを整理することにより、「健康感」「ボディ・イメージ」「からだと感情」の状態など、幅広く心身両面の状況を有効に記述できることが予想される。そこで、広辞苑や購入のアメリカ-ナ大百科事典などから擬態語・擬声語を収集した。擬態語・擬声語分析の基礎になると思われる「ことば」の語感、すなわち、「きゃきゅきょ」「しゃしゅしょ」「ちゃちゅちょ」などの拗音の語感をまず検討した。「健康感」「ボディ・イメージ」「食行動」「人格及びその背景」などの諸次元の質問紙による測定データについては購入の集計ソフトOfficeとDeltagraphにより現在データ入力・解析・出力(購入のレーザー・ライター)中である。
