项目摘要

今年度はインタビュー、およびデータ収集を中心として研究を進めた。そのために今年度の奨励費は主に二つの目的に使った。まず、(1)出張先の京都市と広島市でインタビュー調査を行った。宗教関係者の道徳と教育に関する考え方を聞き取った。主要な目的はインタビューであったが、インタビュー先で関連する諸資料を入手することができた。これもきわめて有益な出張調査の成果である。また、神奈川県内と東京都内でもインタビュー調査を行った。加えて、さまざまな学会、研究会、勉強会に加わり、多くの学術交流の機会を得ることができた。次に、(2)資料収集であるが、関連する問題についての情報を収載した書物、定期刊行物等を購入したり、コピーしたり、インターネットからの資料のダウンロードした。そしてこれらの資料の整理、読解に多くの時間を費やした。書物や定期刊行物の中には入手しにくいものも少なくなく、図書館や個人からの借り出しによって集めた資料も少なくない。これらの調査により、現代の仏教関係者の間で、現代日本の道徳の弱体化を嘆き、これを補うために学校教育を初めとして、さまざまな場で道徳教育の強化がなされなければならないという見解が広まっていることについて、また、そうした見解のヴァラエティは歴史的変化について知見を深めることができた。加えてアメリカに旅行して、アメリカ宗教学会(AAR)でこの問題について研究発表を行い、貴重な批判や助言を得ることができた。アメリカ宗教学会でのパネルの内容は、Japanese Journal of Religious Studies(南山大学から刊行)において特集論文集として掲載される予定である。他にもこの問題をめぐって書評(1篇)、論文(1篇)、編著(1冊)の出版予定がある。
