Development of Data Analysis System Oriented to EBN for the Nursing Researches

To elucidate the attitudes toward Evidence Based Nursing (EBN) in Japan, we conducted the nationwide survey, in which subjects were 3,155 teaching members of nursing sciences in 89 colleges and universities that are joined to the Nihon Kangokei Daigaku Kyougikai (Japanese Nursing College/University Association).The questionnaire was mailed to each subject and asked to send it back until the end of November, 2001. Finally, we received 1,170 answers (198 males, 961 females, and 11 unknown) until the end of January, 2002.The response rate was 37.1%. No significant difference was found statistically between the population and samples about the distributions by gender and by special fields.83.1% of respondants actually study on nursing sciences, of which 32.3% mainly use quantitative methods, 21.4% mainly use qualitative methods, and 46.3% use the both types of methods.The yes response proportions were relatively low to both of the questions whether your study is scientific for the sampling … More method and for the interpretation of results, and the yes response of all items decreased gradually in order of title such as professor, associate professor, lecturer, and assistant professor.The yes response to the question whether your lecture is scientific are 23.9% about "Nursing Assessment", 13.6% about "Nursing Diagnosis", 16.5% about "Planning", and 20.1% about "Nursing Interventions", respectively.The yes response to the question whether your clinical instruction in nursing is scientific are 28.1% about "Nursing Assessment", 15.5% about "Nursing Diagnosis", 20.9% about "Planning", and 20.9% about "Nursing interventions", respectively.Concerning the questions whether your lecture is scientific, the yes responses are the highest in professor group, and the lowest in assistant professor group, but the response was reversed concerning the question whether your clinical instruction in nursing is scientific.The main results are published and can be accessed in our Web site (http://www.clg.niigata-u.ac.jp/~takagi/kaken-h14/kakenmenu.html).
