项目摘要

今年度は、松江藩・鳥取藩を中心とする山陰地域を分析対象とし、島根・鳥取両県立図書館や旧城下町・湊町にある市町村立図書館等において史料調査を実施し、関連文書の写真を収集した。また、自治体史や刊行資史料集を購入のうえ分析を行った。現在のところ、両県とも近世漁業・漁村・漁(師)町に関する研究は低調であり、・昨年・昨年度に比べ関係史料は豊富ではなかったが、研究成果として次の4点があげられる。(1)両藩とも他藩にみられるような城下町への漁民の強制集住は確認されない。むしろ松江藩の場合は、神社との由緒をもつ町人漁師や、前時代の領主の浪人とされる町人漁師の漁業権・居住地を追認している。なお、町人漁師のみならず、松江藩領漁師の漁場利用秩序は、種々の神社の由緒に密接に関係しており、注目される。また、内陸部に位置する鳥取城下町には、町人漁師は存在しない。(2)両藩の漁獲物流通機構は城下町松江・鳥取を中心に構築されており、松江藩は町人漁師を漁獲物献上の儀礼に参加させる一方、在方漁師に対しては他所売禁止を命じている。鳥取藩は、近世初期には地理的有利さから漁獲物が自然集荷されていたが、藩支配の特性から米子や境港に水揚げ量や流通の繁栄を奪われることとなり、後期には城下問屋制度の強化を行うなど対応に苦慮している様相が明らかになった。(3)両藩はいずれも江戸幕府への献上漁獲物が豊富であるが、確保に大きな関心が払われたのは松江藩では俵物であり、鳥取藩では鮭である。他の漁獲物に関しては資史料が確認されていないが、同様の統制体制をとっている可能性は高く、今後も史料調査を継続する必要性を感じた。(4)・昨年・昨年度の当該研究(若狭・丹後・加賀・越中国諸藩を対象)の成果として確認された、19世紀に他領へ魚肥鰯が流出する現象に対する藩の危機意識とその対応が、松江・鳥取両藩でも確認され、魚肥鰯の確保が、当該期の日本海側領主層の共通の課題であったことが改めて確認された。以上の知見をもとに、山陰諸藩の漁(師)町に関する研究成果を今年度の成果としてまとめる一方、3年間の研究成果を「日本近世城下町漁師の史的特質」として成稿している(発表時期は現段階では未定)。
