项目摘要

論文「懐疑論はどのような議論なのか」(『哲学の探求』所収)において、懐疑論の論証構造の一般形式を抽出し懐疑論の帰結に説得力を与えるメカニズムを分析した。そして様々なタイプの懐疑論を分析した結果、懐疑論の疑いが理解可能なものであるためには単にわれわれの日常的信念が偽であるという可能性を提示するだけではなく、日常的信念が偽であるにもかかわらず真であると信じてしまう理由を提示する必要があることが分かった。そして、この偽なる信念を持つ理由を与える役割を果たしている舞台装置が懐疑論的仮説に他ならず、この懐疑論的仮説とそれを用いた議論の再帰的構造こそが懐疑論の説得力を支えているということが明らかになった。そして「ウィトゲンシュタインと懐疑論」(若手研究者フォーラム発表)において、論理学や数学の命題と経験命題との間を連続に捉える最晩年ウィトゲンシュタインの連続主義を生み出した思想的契機を探究し、それが「認識論的懐疑論との対峙」にあったことを明らかにした。「記憶が欺いているかもしれない」という認識論的な疑いと間違いの可能性が最初から排除されているという点にこそ数学的命題の論理的地位は存する。そしてある種の経験命題がこのような数学的命題と共有する「論理的役割」こそ、それぞれのゲームの探究の方向性を規定する蝶番としての役割に他ならない。つまり、何に疑いの目を向けないか(何を蝶番とするか)が何に疑いの目を向けるか(探究の方向性)を規定し、この両者の組み合わせによってそのゲームがどのような探究ゲームであるかが規定されているのである。以上の正当化の言語ゲームモデルを抽出することによって、伝統的認識論が想定していたような主体の内に世界を単一の仕方で正確に写し出す鏡としての知識モデルの代わりに、特定の問題状況を解決するために問いと答えを繰り返す中で与えられる実践的な知識のモデルを提示した。
