项目摘要

本年度は、5月にウズベキスタンのアンディジャン州において、住民暴動と政府による鎮圧事件が発生したことから、7月に予定していた現地の追跡調査を見合わせ、以前までの調査(2003年8、9月、2004年9月)結果に基づいた論文執筆を優先した。その成果としての博士学位論文を、11月に提出し、翌年3月に博士号(学術)を取得した。博士論文における主要な論点の1つは、アンディジャン州における調査地のマハッラの共同体像の問題であった。政治経済学や開発経済学の分野で扱われてきた共有資源(CPR : Common Property Resource)の管理に関わる共同体論や、それらが影響を与えたと思われる現実の開発政策においては、「明確な境界線」によって象徴される画一的な共同体像が暗黙裡に前提とされていた。実際に、近年のウズベキスタン政府は、マハッラの復興を標榜し、これを政策に取り込むことによって開発を進めようとしてきたが、政策議論上の共同体像と現実の共同体的生活との間には遊離が見られ、政策に対する批判が随所で聞かれていた。そこで、同論文では、イスラーム研究が過去に扱ってきた共同体像等から含意を得つつ、この機能的な共同体像を相対化した分析視角から、調査地のマハッラの共同体像を再検証した。マハッラ内の血縁集団や「ギャプ」と呼ばれる慣習の性格や普及の実態を分析することで、結論としては、調査地のマハッラは、機能的紐帯が密に重なり合った「場」として存在しており、「曖昧な境界線」や「異質な構成員」といった諸特徴を、構造上必然的に伴った、相互扶助の基盤としての共同体であるということを示した。同時に、これらの政策的活用に向けた視座を提供した。なお、同博士論文は、今年度の本研究科における最優等論文として選出され、「一高記念賞」を受賞している(3月)。
