本研究の目的は、ウズベキスタンにおける地縁共同体(マハッラ)を題材に、社会ネットワーク分析(Social Network Analysis)手法を用いて、調査地のコミュニティ内の社会ネットワークの重層構造を、図示的、定量的に析出しつつ、コミュニティの内部構造に即した開発政策を検討することである。本年度は、現地における調査活動を本格化し、本研究の中核となるデータを収集した。本年度前半は、日本においてこれまでの研究成果の発表や既存データの分析を行ったが、10,11月には、ウズベキスタンのホレズム州のマハッラにおいて、昨年度以降、準備を進めてきた家計調査及び世帯間ネットワーク調査を実施した。230世帯の一集落(エラット)全体をカバーする全数調査を、現地の教師や大学生、20人近くの協力を得て行った。今回の調査の特徴は、各世帯個別の家計調査と併せて、世帯間の関係性を分析するためのネットワーク・データを体系的に収集した点にある。ネットワーク・データのクロス・チェックは予想以上に手間のかかる作業であったが、調査地の住民、とくに教師の方々の多大な協力を得て、質の高いデータの収集を完遂することができた。帰国後は、データの入力作業を進めるとともに、以前に収集したアンディジャン州のマハッラのデータとの比較などを進めている。なお、報告者の就職のため、特別研究員としての本研究は、最終年度を残して打ち切られることになったが、今回収集したデータの解析は今後進めてゆく。
