旧植民地における日本語教育に関する研究は現在までに多数がある。しかしながら、その対象とする地域や時期は多岐に亙り、また日本語教育史が比較的新しい分野であることもあり、植民地日本語教育の全体像は未だ解明の途中にあるといえよう。本研究は、日本最初の植民地であり、その経験が朝鮮、満州等他の植民地へも影響を与えたとしばしば指摘される台湾を取り上げ、植民地日本語教育の実態解明の一助としようとするものである。研究対象は、初等教育及び社会教育用の国語教科書を取り上げ、その性格を分析する。台湾総督府は同化主義政策の下、半世紀にわたる統治を通じて一貫して日本語教育を統治政策の中心に置いた。殊に1930年代以降盛んになった社会教育(主に国語講習所)は学校に通わない多くの民衆を引きつけ、台湾社会における日本語普及に大きな役割を果たした。社会教育用教科書の研究は、日本語教育史のみならず植民統治史を検討する上でも意義があると思われる。最終年度である本年度は、先行研究の追加検討及び関連文献資料の補足的収集を国内、台湾にて行い、同時に本題である教科書の内容を検討した。研究状況は当初の計画より遅れたが、1930年代台湾の社会教育用教科書『新国語教本』を中心に、同時期の台湾公学校用『国語読本』、朝鮮普通学校用『国語読本』、日本「内地」の『小学国語読本』を比較検討し、目下論文の執筆準備中である。『新国語教本』は分量、難易度ともに初等教育用低学年程度であるが、受講者が成人であることを意識したと思われる内容も見られた。教科内容は昔話や天皇制に関する課などが複数の教科書に共通して見られるなど、統治側の植民地をまとめる意図が伺える一方で、台湾や朝鮮固有の生活等を扱った課や近代技術や国家のしくみを説いた課もあり、日本精神の涵養を教育の主目的としつつも、郷土化や近代化に結びつく内容があることが明らかになった。

Most of the research on Japanese language education in the past Japanese language education history is divided into two parts: the first part and the second part. This study aims to clarify the impact of Japanese language education on the initial population of Japan and on other population groups such as Korea and Manchuria. The study aims to analyze the characteristics of Mandarin textbooks for primary and social education. The Japanese Language Education Policy is the center of Taiwan's government's assimilation policy. In the 1930s, the Japanese language was popularized in Taiwan society. The significance of the study of textbooks for social education and the history of Japanese language education This year, additional review of advanced research and collection of complementary literature data will be conducted in China and Taiwan, and the content of textbooks will be reviewed. The research status includes the following aspects: the initial plan, the center of Taiwan's social education textbook "New Mandarin Textbook" in 1930s, the comparative study of "Mandarin Textbook" for public schools in Taiwan,"Mandarin Textbook" for ordinary schools in Korea, and "Elementary Mandarin Textbook" for "Mainland" in Japan at the same time, and the preparation of the present paper. "New Mandarin Textbook" content, difficulty, low school level, speaker, adult, consciousness, etc. The contents of textbooks include the lessons related to the past, the imperial system, the common knowledge of a plurality of textbooks, the cultivation of the people on the governance side, the inherent life of Taiwan and Korea, the lessons related to modern technology, the main purpose of education for the cultivation of the Japanese spirit, the conclusion of modernization, and the contents related to modernization.
