项目摘要

本年度こ、他の補助金によるものも含めて2回現地調査を行い、マルト語の録音収集と文法の聞き取りを行い、それ以外の時間には書き起こしを行った。昨年度までの研究で、マルト語には従来考えられていた3支族の方言以外に、多数の地域的変種が存在することが明らかになった。そのため調査地域を広げ、今年度の調査では、治安情勢の悪い西部の炭鉱地帯と北東部のビハール州境を除いて、マルト語の話されている諸地域のそれぞれ1つ以上の村落で文法の聞き取り調査と録音を行った。その結果、マルト語の方言は、動詞活用に基づいておよそ5地域に分けられるという仮説を立て発表した。また3支族のうち、クマールバーグと南部のマルパハリアは同じ方言を話していると考えられる一方、中央部、西部のマルパハリアとサウリアパハリアの言語には動詞の完了形など丈法面で大きな違いがあり、同じ地域でも支族によって方言が異なることも明らかになった。またマルト語およびクルフ語は、パキスタンのブラーフーイー語と系統的に最も近く、ともに北ドラヴィダ語派を形成すると言われてきたが、動詞活用に関する限り、中南、中央語派の諸言語に類似しており、従来の系統樹モデルに見直しを迫る結果が出た。本研究のもう一つの目的である口承文芸の採取については、各地で民話や自伝、祭祀等の説明を録音し、それを書き起こしたものに語注と訳を施し、ひとまずそのうち3点を発表した。期間内には完了しなかったが、最終的には200ページ以上の書き起こしテキストを本にまとめる予定である。音声データについてはウェブ上に順次公開している。
