The research project has discussed East Asia's source of development and international competitiveness in the context of industrial agglomeration. The findings of the research are roles of innovation in opposition against common explanation of East Asian development which generally asserted that such development could be realized through cheap labor and labor-intensive industries. We conducted original questionnaire survey of firms in Taiwan, Korea, China, and others. A research network with major institutes abroad has been established in China, Korea, Taiwan, and Hanoi. International conferences have also been held in Beijing, Nanking of China, Nagoya, and Hanoi of Vietnam successfully. Academic papers as fruits of this research have also been published in Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. Not a few papers have been submitted to academic journals, and published in English.

该研究项目探讨了产业集聚背景下东亚的发展源泉和国际竞争力。研究结果表明，创新的作用与对东亚发展的普遍解释相反，东亚发展普遍认为这种发展可以通过廉价劳动力和劳动密集型产业来实现。我们对台湾、韩国、中国等地的企业进行了原始问卷调查。在中国、韩国、台湾、河内等地与国外主要机构建立了研究网络。国际会议还在北京、中国南京、越南名古屋、河内成功举办。作为这项研究成果的学术论文也以日语、韩语和中文发表。不少论文已提交至学术期刊并以英文发表。
