アユ冷水病耐性形質を識別可能なDNAマーカーを用いて、実験魚各個体の耐病性形質保有の有無を推定・識別した。人為的な冷水病菌感染後、1時間および3時間の脾臓において、耐病性形質を保持する個体群に特有の発現パターンを示す遺伝子断片を単離した。耐病性形質を保持する個体群に特有の発現パターンを示す遺伝子断片は、アユにおける冷水病に対する耐病性メカニズムに関与する遺伝子であると考えられた。
