Study on Evaluation of School Network Environments

为应对全国范围内中小学计算机网络的普及，已筹划并开展了“百校联网工程”等研究工作。尽管这些项目积累了各种实际结果，但它们无法提出替代教育政策。也就是说，他们没有为日本学校在全国范围内引入计算机网络收集足够的基础数据，也没有从技术、成本、制度和教师素养等各个方面找到和评估现实的解决方案。在这项研究中，我们开发和评估了一些解决方案，分析了各种计算机网络的使用对教育的影响，(B)Internet和学校局域网的结合，(C)与外部连接的操作团队，以及网络拓扑，(D)在与外部连接时选择合适的通信方式，(E)中小学和高等教育机构在网络建设和管理方面的有效合作。首先，研究了实时多媒体通信的必要性，以比较几种视频会议系统、ISDN直接连接、其次，为了解中小学与高等院校有效合作的情况，对某学校引入互联网后的情况进行参与式观察。在支持与互联网的连接、学校主页的开发、国际合作教室的安排的同时，分析了这一过程，并提出了一些有效的解决方案。再次，测量和分析了互联网和多媒体对儿童的教育和心理影响。

To cope with the nation-wide introduction of computer network in elementary and secondary schools, several researches, such as "100 Schools Networking Project" have been planned and carried out. Although these projects accumulated various practical findings, they could not propose an alternative educational policy. That is, they did not collect sufficient basic data for the nation-wide introduction of computer network in Japanese schools, nor they found and evaluated a realistic solution in various aspects, such as technology, cost, institution, and literacy of teachers. In this study, we developed and evaluated some solutions for the goal, analyzing (a) educational effects of the utilization of various computer networks, (b) combinations of Internet and school LAN, (c) the operation team for the connection with the outside, and network topology, (d) selection of an appropriate communication mode in connecting with the outside, (e) effective cooperation between elementary/secondary schools and higher education institutions in constructing and managing the network.First, the necessity of real-time multimedia communications was examined, In order to compare their usability and effectiveness among several videoconferencing systems, ISDN direct connection, Internet connection and use of CATV network were examined.Second, in order to survey an effective cooperation between elementary/secondary schools and higher education institutions, a participatory observation was carried out when the Internet was introduced in a school. While supporting the connection with Internet, development of the school homepage, arrangements of international collaborative classrooms, the process was analyzed and some effective solutions were developedThird, educational and psychological influences of internet and multimedia on children were measured and analyzed.
