GRP78は小胞体において蛋白が高次構造を獲得するのに関与している分子シャペロンである。LHレセプター(LHR)を恒常的に発現している細胞にGRP78を発現させるとLHRとGRP78が結合し、更にGRP78発現量依存的にLHR発現が増加することを確認した。ヒト、ラットともhCG添加に伴いGRP78 promoter活性の上昇がみられ、またhCGにエストロゲンを加えることで若干ではあるが更なるpromoter活性上昇がみられた。LH/hCGによりGRP78 promoter活性が変化し、LHR発現調節にGRP78が関与することを強く示唆する結果が得られた。
