本研究の目的は、2008年に生誕100年を迎えるモーリス・メルロ=ポンティの哲学とくにその身体論に焦点をあて、これまでの研究を総括するとともに、新たな展開の可能性を探究することにある。彼の身体論は、哲学にとどまらず、社会学、精神医学、心理学、美学、教育学、看護学などの分野に刺激を与えてきた。近年さらに認知科学や脳科学、ロボット工学などの分野にも影響を与えている。そこで本研究では、2008年11月25・26日立教大学における国際シンポジウムを始め講演会や研究会、書籍などを通じて、こうした彼の身体論研究の深まりと広がりを総括し、新たな発展のための基盤を築いた

The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of new development in the field of philosophy and body theory. His body theory, philosophy, sociology, psychiatry, psychology, aesthetics, education, nursing, and other fields of stimulation In recent years, cognitive science and engineering have been divided into different fields.
