VHF帯大気レーダー・気象レーダー・レーザーレーダー(ライダー)から、風速と雲に関する物理量を同時に観測することにより、雲微物理過程と鉛直流の相互作用を熱帯域及び中緯度域において調べた。大気レーダーによりはじめて正確に測定できる鉛直流の観測結果を用いることにより、雲粒の落下速度の精度良い観測に有用であることを示した。さらに、降水を伴わない非降水雲内における大きい鉛直流擾乱の存在や、雲頂付近における風速変動の詳細を観測により示すことに成功した。
