An empirical study about identity formation of intercultural children with Japanese ancestry and its support

本研究旨在阐明具有日本血统的跨文化儿童（父母一方是日本人，另一方不是日本人）形成（文化）认同的必要支持。参与者是生活在五个国家（印度尼西亚、加拿大、英国、德国或日本）的具有日本血统的跨文化儿童（长子、双语儿童，主要是初中生），他们的母亲，以及每个国家的日语语言和文化学校（如日语补习学校）的老师。除了实地考察外，还采用了半构造访谈。结果，在家庭、学校、周边社区以及来自日本的对日本语言和文化的支持得到了体现。

This study aimed to clarify the necessary support for (cultural) identity formation of intercultural children with Japanese ancestry (one of their parents being Japanese, another being non-Japanese). The participants were intercultural children with Japanese ancestry (first-born children, bilingual, mostly Junior High School students) living in five countries (Indonesia, Canada, England, Germany, or Japan), their mothers, as well as teachers at schools for Japanese language and culture (e.g.Japanese supplement school) in each country. Semi-constructed interviews were employed in addition to fieldwork. As a result, support at home, at schools for Japanese language and culture, in the surrounding community, and from Japan was demonstrated.
