It remains unknown how the interaction by G protein-coupled receptor is involved in the functional regulation of estrogen receptor. We showed that hypothalamic dopamine inhibited transcriptional activation of estrogen receptor through G protein-coupled dopamine receptor in pituitary lactotrophs in culture. The results suggest a novel mechanism of the interaction between nuclear receptors and cell membrane receptors.
