Changes in mental health status among maleJapanese workers during the transition to retirement.

本研究旨在了解男性退休人员在退休过渡期的心理健康状况及其影响因素，为维护男性退休人员的心理健康和幸福感提供支持。采用访谈法和自填式问卷法对男性职工的工作压力、抑郁症状、自觉健康状况、生活满意度和个人社会资本进行调查。结果表明，退休过渡期的心理健康状况有所改善，这与其工作压力的减轻和采取适当的应对策略有关，也与其较高的个人心理健康水平有关。

The purpose of this study was to clarify the mental health status and its related factors among male workers during the transition to retirement in orderto build support measures to maintain their mental health and well-being. The mental health status of male workers was assessed by interview and self-administered questionnaires,which elicited their job stress, depressive symptoms (CES-D), perceived health status, life satisfaction, and individual social capital (SC). The results showed that their mental health status improved towards retirement, which was related to the reductionin their job stress and using appropriate coping strategies, and higher individual SC. In order for workers in the retirement transition to keep better mental health, it is important to increase their individual SC as well as to help manage their job stress.
