The aim of this research is, by focusing on the political dynamics on of Nationalist China's the main goal of "returning to the mainland", to consider the process of formation and the development of relations between Nationalist China and the U. S. in the cold era and also to historically comprehend the structure of this relationship. In addition to this, this research looks further than this relationship to Nationalist China's policy toward other East Asian states. It will place the political dynamics of "returning to the mainland" in the history of East Asian international relations in the cold war era.
