Role of cystatin in stimulation of saliva flow and protection of oral mucosa

半胱氨酸蛋白酶抑制剂是半胱氨酸蛋白酶抑制剂家族。半胱氨酸蛋白酶抑制剂被认为在细胞凋亡中具有重要作用。干燥综合征患者唾液胱抑素减少，尤其是胱抑素S。在正常对照组的唇唾液腺中，观察到Cystatin的强染色，但在Sjogren综合征患者中有很少的阳性例子，并且染色极低。这些结果表明，胱抑素参与调节干燥综合征的发病。

The cystatins are a family of cysteine protease inhibitors. Cysteine protease inhibitors are assumed to have important roles in apoptosis. Salivary cystatin decreased in Sjogren's syndrome patients, particularly cystatin S. In the labial salivary glands, intense staining of the cystatin was observed in the normal control group, but there were few positive examples in Sjogren's syndrome patients, and the staining was extremely low. These results suggest that the cystatin participates in the regulation of onset of Sjogren's syndrome.
