The Influence of Second Language Proficiency on Sentence Comprehension: An fMRI Study

本研究以韩国语为母语和第二语言，通过实验探讨了汉语混叠句句法分析中的句子加工机制。结果表明，在理解混乱句时，左额下回（IFG）和左额中回（MFG）的激活程度高于标准句。这表明，根据以前的研究结果从神经语言学的角度来看，在韩国的混乱确实是一个语法操作，不对称的先行词间隙关系的分析策略需要在大脑中的额外的认知激活。

In this study, we conducted an experiment to unravel the mechanism of sentence processing during the parsing of scrambled sentences in Korean as L1 and L2. The result showed more activation at the left inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) and the left middle frontal gyrus (MFG) during the comprehension of scrambled sentences than that of canonical sentences. This indicates, in accordance with previous findings on scrambling from neurolinguistic perspectives, that scrambling in Korean is indeed a grammatical operation and that the parsing strategy for the asymmetric antecedent-gap relationship demands an additional cognitive activation in the brain.
