项目摘要

十八世紀フランスの小説家レチフ・ド・ラ・ブルトンヌの自伝作品『ムッシュー・ニコラ』の分析を中心に、文学における幸福の問題、特に「自己語り」の幸福の様態を明らかにすることが本研究の目的であった。第一に、日本で未だ知名度の低いレチフの受容史と『ムッシュー・ニコラ』の研究史をまとめた。第二に、自伝作品における語りの多層性について検討した。自伝の語りの特異性は作者・語り手・主人公の同一性にあり、すべての語りが「私」という視点からなされると考えられてきたが、実際には視点を異にする複数の語りが存在することを本研究では仮説として提示した。具体的には、自伝作品を物語る語り（語りA）とそのような語りにコメントする語り（語りB）の二種類に自伝の語りは大別することが可能であると思われる。このような仮説に従うことによって、効率的に作品分析が行えることを本研究では明らかにした。第三に、幸福観念の思想史的分析を行い、自伝作品がどのような歴史的背景の下に成立したかを考察した。本研究では十八世紀に大きな影響力を持ったジョン・ロックのイギリス経験論から自伝の思想史的立ち位置を明らかにし、また西欧哲学における伝統的な幸福観すなわち幸福主義と快楽主義の二元論からレチフの文学キャリアを検討し、その結果、レチフをアイデンティティの探究者として再定義し、十九世紀以降のプルーストを代表とする意識と時間を問題とする小説家の先駆者としてレチフを評価できるのではないかと指摘した。第四に、想起の幸福について検討し、自己語りには多かれ少なかれ虚構が混入するものであり、そのような妄念こそが自己語りの幸福を形成する大きな要素なのではないかと指摘した。このような自己語りは、現代においてはSNSなどで多くの人間が実践しているものでもあり、十八世紀フランス文学研究が現代の自己語り研究にも応用可能であることを本研究では指摘するに至った。
