项目摘要

本研究テーマの最終年度では、5月～7月にかけて、ベルギーのカトリック・レーヴェン大学の古代史研究所にて、海外研究滞在を行った。海外滞在中は、国内ではアクセスできない文献資料、また、欧州近隣国を含めた博物館における史料の実測調査によるデータの収集に努めた。古代エジプトの模型資料を収集して分析した結果、200点を超す遺物は、人体、動物、柱に分類されうることがわかった。これらは、すべて神殿建造の際に作られる建築彫刻に属し、その中でも制作頻度の高い種類の物であることがわかった。また、これらに分類された建築彫刻の史料には、人体であれば彫像全体に加えて、手、足、胴体、胸像などの部分に分けて作られていることがわかり、エジプト様式に特有な巨大な一枚岩による彫像制作において、数多くの彫刻師が彫る部位を分担して一つの作品を完成させる様子が窺えた。動物においても、最も象徴的である頭部の部分模型が独立して制作されており、柱においても柱身だけ、あるいは柱頭だけの模型が存在する。おそらく、顔や柱頭などの装飾部位の中でももっとも表象的な部位に関しては、綿密なデザイン計画が施され、また熟練職人がこの部位の制作を担当したと考えられる。この点について、今後古文書史料をあたり、論証を深めていきたい。人体、動物の模型に関する研究成果は、国内外の学会で口頭発表を行い、現在査読論文の投稿を準備している。エジプトの建築理論の復元した査読論文を和文、欧文で発表した。この三年間の研究によって本研究テーマの全体像が明らかになり、またその重要性が一段と増してきたため、英文の学術書の出版準備を進めている。柱に関する一連の研究で、日本学術振興会賞ならびに日本学士院学術奨励賞を受賞した。また、昨年度発表した古代エジプトの設計理論と古代地中海文明との関連性を論じた論文が2019年日本建築学会奨励賞を受賞した。
