项目摘要

平成31年4月から令和元年7月まで、古書・書籍の購入や、国立国会図書館・国内の大学図書館での調査により、19世紀後半から20世紀初頭の英仏のロシア研究や英露関係史、仏露関係史に関連する文献を入手し分析した。その結果、特に英国のロシア研究者の活動について以下の点が明らかになった。マッケンジー・ウォレス(Donald Mackenzie=Wallace, 1841-1919)や、ペアズ(Bernard Pares, 1867-1949)、ベアリング(Maurice Baring, 1874-1945)らは、英露の協調・友好を促進するのみならず、学術とジャーナリズムの両面から英国社会のロシア理解を深めようと志した。また彼らは当時ロシアで活動した立憲主義派の政治家や自由主義者たちを支援した。令和元年8月から9月まで研究成果を整理し、令和元年10月に第57回日本比較文学会東京支部大会で、英国のロシア研究誌The Russian Review（1912-14）と共同編集者ペアズとベアリングの活動について発表した。令和元年11月、上記に基づく研究論文を『学習院女子大学紀要』第22号に投稿した（掲載決定、令和2年3月刊行）。令和元年12月から令和2年1月まで、米国の探検家・ロシア研究者ケナン(George Kennan, 1845-1924)のシベリア探検・先住民族研究や新聞記事を調査した。ケナンはロシア帝国の辺境と諸民族の事情に知悉した一方、独裁的なロシアの帝政を批判して同国の革命家や自由主義者らに接近し、米国の対露認識に影響を与えたといえる。令和元年2月から3月にかけて本年度入手した文献や資料や、ルロア・ボーリュー（Henri Jean Baptiste Anatole Leroy=Beaulieu, 1842-1912）の著書などフランスのロシア研究関連文献の分析を継続した。
