项目摘要

本研究の目的は、ヒトにおいて普遍的に観察される「一夫一妻的関係」が、どのような認知・神経機構によって支えられているかを包括的に明らかにすることであった。そうした関係の安定的・長期的維持には、パートナー以外の異性に対する「浮気的関心」の適切な抑制が重要であるとされる。本研究では機能的磁気共鳴画像法 (functional magnetic resonance imaging, fMRI)を用いた心理実験を通し、これまで提案されていた2つの抑制機構の作用が、文脈に依存した関係性を示すことを示唆する知見を得た。具体的には、非常に魅力的な異性に対する「浮気的関心」を抑制する上では、実行制御機能による能動的抑制単体では不十分であり、さらに浮気行為に対する強いネガティブな情動の喚起による、自動的な抑制機構も必要となることを示した。追加的検討の結果からはさらに、パートナーへの強いコミットメントや愛着が示される関係の初期では、能動的な抑制が伴わずとも「浮気的関心」が抑制されている一方、関係が長くなると、そうした能動的な抑制が必要となることを示唆する知見を得た。これらの結果は、これまで知見が個別に蓄積されていた、浮気的関心の2つの抑制機構の相互作用的関係性を明らかにするものである。今後の研究計画として、このような抑制機構の詳細なプロセスに関する心理モデルの構築と、その実験的検討を行っていくことを計画している。
