项目摘要

本研究課題は、人間の言語理解・産出のメカニズムを明らかにするために、とくに解釈が2通り考えられる文(構造的多義性)の処理において、その文のもつ韻律特性や語用論的特徴の役割に焦点をあてて検証し、その役割が言語間で同じなのか、違うのかという問いに答えることを目標とする。対象とする言語は、英語、日本語、スペイン語である。否定と副詞節(because節)の作用域の相互作用の処理に関するこれまでの英語での結果を踏まえて、スペイン語や日本語での同種の構造を考察し、その意味・韻律・情報構造の特性や、処理プロセスを検証する。また、L2英語話者の処理プロセスとの違いも検証し、英語教育への示唆を得ることも目指す。自己ペースでの黙読・発話産出・眼球運動測定、コーパス分析などの手法を用いて、この意味的に複雑な作用域構造の理解においてどのような処理方略の言語普遍性や多様性が観察されるのかを探求するものである。 R4年度は、スペイン語における否定と作用域の多義構造(e.g. Julia no compro la blusablanca porque es/estuviera bien) について、実際の言語使用例において2つの可能な解釈がそれぞれどのような頻度で出現するかを、スペイン語コーパスCORPES/RAEを用いて調査した。その結果、そのうちの圧倒的な割合が否定がporque節よりも狭い作用域を取る読み、またporque節には直説法が使われる例がほとんどであった。また、日本語の同種の構造についての産出実験を行い、英語学習者の実験と、効果的なトレーニングの効果を検証する実験も構築した。（これらの結果は追って学会発表予定なので結果についてはここでは省く。）
