项目摘要

諸社服忌令の成立について考えるための検討として、（1）平安期の古記録から一部の神社にのみ特有な触穢に関する制度・慣例についての情報収集作業及び、月1回程度、近世史の研究者と共に、近世における触穢制度の運用などを検討する勉強会を2021年度より継続して行うと共に、新たに（2）現在未翻刻の諸社服忌令の現物調査を実施した。このうち（2）については、複数の諸社服忌令を参照することが出来、現存する諸社服忌令の把握という点では一定の成果があがったと見込まれる。しかしながら、おそらくは中世末～近世期の成立と見られるもののも多く、かつその前後関係は未だ検討中であるが、異なる神社の服忌令がほぼ同文であるケースも確認され、他の神社の服忌令の引き写しであると推測されるものもあった。したがって平安期末における諸社服忌令そのものの成立過程を明らかにするにあたっては少なからぬ課題を残している現状である。一方で既に刊本として出版のなされている、石清水社や春日社の資料などによっては、平安期において一部神社に特有な触穢をめぐる慣例や禁忌の存在が窺えるところであり、特に奉祭時やその前段階の斎戒時における仏事の位置づけをめぐって活発な議論がなされていることが確認された。魚食禁忌についての論文で多少言及した通り、神社毎の禁忌の差異を生み出す1つの要因が、各神社における神仏習合の程度の差であったことが想定されるが、触穢についての神社独自の判断がなされるようになる背景ついては、異なる角度からの検討が必要である。
