マーシャル、ラスキン、福田徳三を中心に「良き生(wellbeing)と持続可能な社会」を追及した古典的経済思想の歴史的再構成を目指す方向で研究を進めた。マーシャルの有機的成長論を、その要件である人の能力、教育、環境とともに著作に即して検証し、持続可能な社会の構想を究明しようとした。ラスキン、ホブソン、福田徳三についても研究を進め、人の性格形成・能力、そして環境・自然（空気・水・大地）、文化的最低限を包括的にとらえた古典的経済思想の再構成を目指した。それは、近刊予定の『評伝 福田徳三－経済学の黎明と展開』（日本経済評論社、5月刊行予定）のいくつかの章題・副題、「マーシャルと福田徳三」、「福田『経済学講義』とマーシャル『経済学原理』ー有機的成長と厚生経済論」、「聖トマスへの回帰とラスキン的厚生経済学」、「福田、ホブソン、イギリス福祉国家」などにも表れている。これらの一部は、北海道大学経済学部の研究会でも「マーシャルと福田徳三ー厚生経済をめぐって」として報告された（2022年11月5日）。また、執筆中の『経済思想15講』（新生社）の「冷静な頭脳と暖かい心情」、「生こそ富（No Wealth But Life)」、「Wellbeingと持続可能な社会の探究」などでも検証されている。マーシャルの『経済学原理』の翻訳を進めた。二つの序文から第1編、第2編、第3編、第4編、第5編、第6編、付録、数学付録まで、全部の訳を見直し、ファイルを出版社に送ったところである。この訳業の過程で学んだことも踏まえ、次年度には、ヨーロッパの学会でマーシャルの持続的成長を中心に報告をしたいと考えている。
