本研究は白神山地を題材に、世界自然遺産登録がもたらした地域社会への社会的影響を、この間の地域社会の変化のうちに検証するものである。白神山地が世界遺産に登録されてから2023年で30年を迎える。現在、現地では30周年の記念事業が進行中であり、本研究ではそうした現地の動きを調査し、またさらにこの先の本地域のあり方についても検討を加えるものである。この研究では世界自然遺産登録がもたらした地域社会への社会的影響とともに、この間の当該地域社会の変化を確認し、自然保護と地域政策のあいだにある、地域社会を取り巻く社会的課題について検証する。ここでは歴史的視点と、環白神に位置する複数の地域社会の比較の視点でこの問題にアプローチしている。2022年度は現地調査を複数回試み、また空間的には一部重複する形で2021年に新たに世界遺産となった北海道・北東北の縄文遺跡群との比較も行った。現地調査の結果、過疎人口減少問題がこの間、日本全体でも急速な形でこの地に現れていること、他方で消滅集落が再生するなど回復とみられる現象も観察されることを確認した。世界遺産の活用に関しては、世代交代の功罪がともに現れており、白神観察ガイドの分析などを通じて今後の文化継承についての課題も多数確認された。本研究では引き続き、環白神地域の歴史・地理・社会学的検討を進めるとともに、30周年を節目に動く当該地域の動向を見定め、今後も持続可能な地域づくりを進めるための視座を確立していく予定である。

This study focuses on the theme of Shirakami Mountain, the impact of World Natural Heritage on regional society, and the evidence of regional social transformation. Shirakamiyama Land is a World Heritage Site registered in 2023. Now, the 30th anniversary of the project is in progress, this study will be conducted in the field of investigation, research and development of the local area. This research is aimed at identifying the impact of World Natural Heritage on regional society, identifying the social transformation of the region, identifying regional policies for nature conservation, and identifying issues related to regional society. This is a historical perspective, a global perspective, and a comparative perspective of multiple regions and societies. 2022 - 2021: A review of the World Heritage Sites in Hokkaido and the North East The results of local investigation, the problem of insufficient population in Japan, the rapid development of the whole country, the phenomenon of the elimination of colonies and the regeneration of colonies in other countries, and the phenomenon of the elimination of colonies were confirmed. World Heritage is an important part of the cultural heritage of the world. This study is aimed at exploring the history, geography and sociology of the region around the White River. The 30th anniversary of the program will be determined when the trend of the region is determined. The future may be determined when the region is determined.
