現在、国家資格（はり師・きゅう師）の受験資格が与えられ教育内容や国家試験科目は法的に定められているものの、大学共通のモデル・コア・カリキュラムは存在せず、各大学の実情に合わせた独自の教育課程により大学教育が行われているのが実情である。そこで本研究の目的は、わが国の大学教育における伝統医学（鍼灸）教育に特化した、良質で標準的なモデル・コア・カリキュラムの構築である。1年目（令和4年度）の目標として、鍼灸学系大学協議会に設置のモデル・コア・カリキュラム作成委員会を通して、その草案作りと定めた。その結果、研究分担者で共同作業を進め、予定とおりモデル・コア・カリキュラムの草案作成が完了した。作成にあたり念頭に置いた【観点】は次の9つである。第1に国家試験出題基準との整合性、第2にはり師・きゅう師として求められる基本的な資質・能力の実質化、第3に臨床（診療）参加型臨床実習の充実、第4に地域医療や地域包括ケアシステムの教育、第5に鍼灸臨床に必要不可欠な疾患・症候や病態理解、第6に診察技法、第7に職業倫理、第8に多職種連携、第9に総量のスリム化とした。また、モデル・コア・カリキュラムの【項目】は次のとおりである。A.はり師・きゅう師として求められる基本的な資質・能力、B.はり・きゅうの施術対象（例：肩こり、腰痛など）の理解に必要な基本的知識、C.　はり・きゅう施術に必要な基本的知識、D.専門基礎科分野および専門分野の授業科目、E.多様な現場におけるはり・きゅう施術の実践に必要な基本的知識、F.施術以外のはり師・きゅう師の役割、G.特定部位への刺鍼手技（解剖・刺鍼法・注意点）、H.臨床実習、I.はり・きゅう研究（基礎・臨床）。
