本研究の目的は、「教員志望の学生に『教えることを教える』ことを職務とする教師教育実践者が、自身の授業づくりや授業中のふるまい、それを規定する要因や背景を省察し、自らの授業力を高めるために行うセルフスタディ」を推進するための方途を理論的・実践的に明らかにすることである。研究は、大きく三つのアプローチをとろうとしている。（１）国際動向を踏まえたセルフスタディ方法論を整理し、日本での受容や発展の可能性を検討する。（２）教職課程の授業におけるセルフスタディの方法論そのものの実践的検討を行う。（３）セルフスタディを日本で推進していくコミュニティ構築のための諸課題とその解決策の探究を行う。2022年度は初年度として、上記の（１）および（２）に関わることを推進した。（１）として、教師教育者のセルフスタディ研究を牽引している米国の研究者によるセルフスタディの方法論や実践の知見について、その著書の翻訳にかかわるなどしながら調査し、整理した。（２）として、研究代表者がセルフスタディの主体、研究分担者がそのクリティカル・フレンドとなり、次の２点を行った。①教職課程の授業「教職入門」において、セルフスタディの研究実践を行い、その成果と課題を整理した。②現場教師の授業実践を積極的に参観し、「教職課程の授業を担当する教師教育実践者が、現職教師にどのようにかかわることでその成長を支援できるか」にまで射程を広げ、現場教師との定期的な対話を対象として実践したこともセルフスタディとして対象化した。それについて教師教育学会にて研究発表を行った。
