2022年度は、以下、３つの事を行った。まず第１に、「フェアトレードの介入の直接効果」についての調査を開始する前に、そもそも、フェアトレード（認証制度）がSDGs達成に果たし得る学術的意義を明確にした。まずはその成果を論文にして発表した。第２に、ウガンダ小規模有機農家組合の組合長（GM）と女性コーヒー農家さんへのインタビュー、及び、アンケート調査を基に、「フェアトレードの介入の直接効果」を明らかにした。その結果、フェアトレードが定めている基準の存在は重要ではあるものの、ジェンダー平等化や女性エンパワメントにおいてはそれぞれの組合の取り組み方が決定的に重要であることが明らかとなった。かつ、女性が組合員になってフェアトレードに参加する場合と、組合員の配偶者として間接的に組合活動に参加するのでは、フェアトレードの社会的インパクトは異なる可能性があることも同時に明らかとなった。この研究成果は、ドイツのチュービンゲン大学で開催された国際会議で発表した。ただし、本研究結果は、コロナ禍で行われれた、サンプル数が限られた調査結果に基づくもので、更なる調査が必要であることは言うまでもない。第３に、当初の計画に加え、フェアトレードの効果を考える上で、ジェンダーと共に、気候変動リスクへの考慮が必要か否か、についても研究を行った。近年、ウガンダでは、疫病よりも気候変動による洪水被害が多発しているが、気候変動の影響は一般的にはジェンダー中立的ではないことが知られている。今年度の調査結果より、本研究が調査対象としているウガンダ小規模有機農家組合も例外ではないことが明らかとなった。したがって、フェアトレードの推進はジェンダーとともに気候変動リスクへの考慮もまた不可欠であることがわかった。その結果をもとに、論文を1本、執筆をした。
