DESCRIPTION: (Adapted from applicant's abstract): The proposal describes the development of a comprehensively curated database for protein domains to extend the power of the existing protein domain databases for genome annotation. The new Proteome Domain Database (PDD) will complement the other comprehensively curated species-specific databases (YPD and WormPD) developed by Proteome, Inc. Which are already valued resources for annotation of new genome sequences. Like YPD and WormPD, the new Proteome Domain Database will be built Primarily by extensive curation of the research literature to capture Experimental knowledge of properties and functions of the previously Identified protein domains.
