This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This study is a prospective study of 150 patients addressing the value of a direct kinetic biomarker of cell proliferation and death as a predictive test of CLL disease progression with the following objectives: 1) Establish the sensitivity and specificity of the kinetic biomarker measurement of in vivo B-CLL kinetics as a test for predicting subsequent clinical course in 150 B-CLL patients, through a 2-4 year prospective study. 2) Compare the kinetic biomarker measurement in B-CLL patients to other established and candidate prognostic tests. 3) In a subset of patients, compare the kinetics of B-CLL cells in bone marrow and peripheral blood.
