英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This is a multi-center, randomized, blinded clinical trial to investigate whether low-dose inhaled nitric oxide administered to preterm infants of 500-1250 g birth weight who continue to require mechanical ventilation or continuous position airway pressure at 7 days of age will increase survival without chronic lung disease at 36 weeks postmenstrual age. The study will also evaluate the safety of this therapy by assessing toxicity and assessing neurodevelopmental outcome through two years of age. The enrollment goal is 585 infants over 4 years. Subjects have two outpatient visits at 9-12 months corrected age and 22-26 months corrected age for ongoing evaluation of the baby's growth and development.
