ANTIGEN COMPARABILITY STUDY OF HBSAG + 1018 ISS

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The objective of this experiment is to test the antibody responses of baboons to recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) from a new production. HBsAg will be mixed with 1018 ISS an immunostimulatory DNA sequence that is known to induce a strong antibody response to HBsAg in baboons. This antigen comparability study will help determine if a new source of HBsAg will generate similar antibody responses to control antigen. This study may be beneficial to society since it will help in the development of a new/improved HBV vaccine.
