This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
The purpose of this study is to gather prospective, demographic and clinical data on acute liver failure in childhood, an infrequent condition of varying causes, which carries a high mortality. The mechanism will be through the development of a multi-centered study group combining the case experience of at least 13 centers from around the United States, with the coordinating center at the University of Texas, Southwestern. Data and serum to be frozen for future studies will be collected for 7 days.
