This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This core will focus on supporting the Molecular aspects of COBRE funded stem cell studies such as gene expression and function. Cell phenotype and function will be observed by real time RT-PCR (ABI 7000 Sequence Detection System) at various stages in cell cycle. Vector construction, cell transfection and phenotyping of transfected cells will be supported. Other molecular methods of detection will be used as needed. The core equipment consists of a real time RT-PCR Sequence Detection System (Applied Biosystems), GeneAmp PCR System 2700 (Applied Biosystems) and a BioRad GelDoc XR with UV Transilluminator. Services provided by the core will include training on the Real Time PCR machine and vector construction. The core is available to COBRE participants and no fees will be charged to users.
