This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This study will examine the effect of exenatide on weight, energy expenditure, satiety, sleep and metabolic parameters in moderately obese women with normal glucose homeostasis or with impaired glucose homeostasis but not frank diabetes mellitus. This is a randomized, double blind, crossover study in which subjects will receive exenatide or placebo for 16 weeks with a 2-week washout period between treatment periods.
