During this reporting period, the collaborative team performed screening of approximately 20,000 compounds towards identifying small molecules that inhibit the interaction between EF-Tu and tRNA. Follow-up studies are underway to further characterize hits and identify compounds that show on-target bactericidal activity.
Additionally, pharmacokinetic and in vivo studies have been performed using a molecule identified in an earlier round of screening. Topical formulations of this compound are being studied for the treatment of skin infections.
