Funding is requested to purchase an online 2D imaging plate reader. The image plate reader will be used for micro-crystal x-ray diffraction under extreme conditions and bio-medical imaging measurements at the high energy x-ray micro-analysis beamline (HXMA) at the Canadian Light Source. The online reader will be the primary detector for the HXMA beamline. It is essential for the recording of high quality and accurate two-dimensional intensities data from diffraction and imaging experiments. Moreover, the reduction of readout time compare to manual offline image plate reader is significant. The avaliability of this system will help to optimize the use of valuable synchrotron beamtime. The imaging plate reader is expected to be stationed permanently at the HXMA beamline and will be accessible to members of a large synchrootron community other than the groups lead by the principal and the co-applicants.
