An ultricentrifuge : a basic instrument for the isolation of clathrin-coated vesicles by subcellular fractionation in order to do functional proteomic analysis

The University of Quebec at Chicoutimi (UQAC) is developping cell biology research. Cell biology studies the structure and the function of cells. It is important to study the function of cells since there are the major part of our body. Their localization and their function are highly regulated. Change in their organization could lead to a dysregulation of the system and then to the development of diseases. Inside the cells, there are different compartments containing protein complexes involved in cell function. Techniques have been developped such as compartment isolation to study these compartments and protein complexes in order to better understand protein and cell functions. One of the technique is the ultracentrifugation that allow to isolate specific compartments and to study their protein contents. In order to establish my research program at UQAC, I need to acquire an ultracentrifuge since this is a new field of investigation at UQAC and there is no such equipment available.
