The cytoskeleton is a complex arrangement of structural proteins: microfilaments, intermediates filaments, and microtubules. Each of them has specific physical properties and spatial organizations as well as particular roles in the cell. The organization of the networks is a main determinant of their cellular function. Furthermore the three cytoskeleton networks are in constant dynamic interactions that determine many mechanisms in the cell. Defaults in the cytoskeleton organization are involved in the pathogenesis of many diseases such as neurodegenerative disorders. I intend to develop a mathematical and computational modelling framework to study the dynamics of cytoskeleton organization processes. The formalism of dynamical systems as well as agent-based models will be used to model the organizational processes. Models will describe the three interconnected cytoskeletal networks. They will account for both the biochemical and physical properties of these elements and their interactions to define the whole integrated system. This modelling framework will prove a very efficient tool to study different hypotheses of defects in the assembly or the transport of cytoskeletal proteins, and/or their associated proteins that often are cytopathological features in many diseases.
