Zeta potential is a very important parameter in nanotechnology and in the study of dispersion and aggregation of particles and polymers. The zeta potential analyzer can provide crucial information on the repulsive or attractive forces among charged particles and other chemical and biochemical species. The understanding of such properties is essential in our research on colloidal crystalline arrays and liposomes for use as biosensors and drug delivery systems. This instrument is urgently needed by the students and researchers to analyze the samples prepared in our labs at Université de Montréal.The zeta potential analyzer can also monitor the evolution of electrostatic forces as a function of external conditions. It helps to predict the phenomenon of aggregation and packing of nanoparticles under different conditions. The determination of the zeta potential provides guidelines on the stability and application range of the materials, which helps to save research time in the development of new materials. In our work, the analyzer will be used in the study of charges and charge density as a function of particle size, composition, pH and temperature for polymeric particles, liposomes and ionic polymers developed in our research projects. The equipment will be made available to other researchers and will be used in the training of young researchers.
