Ribonucleic acids (RNAs) are among the main molecules that constitute the cell, and they play important roles in genetic expression. In order to understand how the cell works at the genetic level, we need to identify and characterize the important RNAs of the cell. However, the application of current experimental methods to accomplish this task is long and costly, which creates a large delay before functional results are obtained after the sequence information is made available. This research involves the development of computational approaches that will speed-up RNA identification and characterization by rapidly suggesting experiments that will optimize the discovery process. The results of this research have broader application in RNA research.
