英文摘要
Funds are requested to purchase a table top ultracentrifuge and two rotors to process biological samples in the range of 0.2 to 2 mL. This equipment will be used to study plant signal transduction, metabolism, plant reproduction and biological rythms. The ultracentrifuge is the instrument of choice for the purification of plant membranes and the study of protein subcellular localization in vivo and in vitro. An ultracentrifuge able to process very small volumes is critical for the study of small biological samples and plant extracts available in small quantities. This type of instrument is not currently available in our institute and it will support the research activities of approximately 75 graduate students, post doctoral fellows and research professionals.
