项目摘要

Water scarcity and rising demand are concerns in Alberta as well as across Canada and around the world. Watering of residential and commercial landscapes is one source of water use with the potential for improved conservation. A small Alberta enterprise developed a concept for a rotary pop-up lawn sprinkler that would be more efficient in its use of water and easier to install, thus offering many benefits over existing systems. The company worked with SAIT Polytechnic's Applied Research and Innovation Services to create a prototype of this advanced, high-efficiency underground sprinkler. This project builds on SAIT's academic and applied research capacity in clean technologies and manufacturing. SAIT Polytechnic has the necessary skills and facilities in design, information technology, and manufacturing to help this company move from concept to pre-commercial product. SAIT benefits from involving staff in the project, and bringing the practical knowledge gained back to the classroom.
