Shannon Developments Corporation has approached the SAIT Polytechnic Design and Fabrication applied research team to test and validate the company's new instrument for measuring corrosion (aging) on high voltage power lines. SAIT will construct a broad range of physical models of various sizes of ACSR (aluminum conductor steel reinforced) conductors to simulate corrosion, and process them through the company's new instrument to generate data sets for each sample. This will lead to a software modeling project involving SAIT's Radio Frequency Identification Application Development Lab.
